JC Wings 1/200 Cathay Pacific B777-300ER B-KQJ Unboxing and Review

Описание: I’ll rate this JC Cathay B-KQJ in 10 categories.

This special limited edition was made before JC’s boring orange box design. So, you can tell it tries to make it look like a CX product by highlighting the then newly-added “Hong Kong: Asia World City” logo. The model is well protected by the foam. I’ll give an 8.

This 77W comes with magnetic gear and a display stand. The gear door covers are quite well made. But the nose door cover cannot sit into the slot perfectly. The plane looks very handsome in flight mode on the stand. I’ll give an 8.

This JC mould is very good. You simply can’t find any flaws. The curves on the nose look very realistic. The shape of the wings and the extended wingtips are very good-looking. The tail and the vertical stabilizer look exactly like the real things. I’ll give a 9. These pairs of GE90 engines are very realistic. The fan blades are spinnable. It has see-through cores and comes with the correct engine pylons for GE90s. They are in good shape and in scale. I’ll give a 9.

The wings and horizontal stabilizers are very well attached. The two engines are well aligned and have very good ground clearance. The seam between the vertical stabilizer and the fuselage is almost invisible. I’ll say it deserves a 9. It’s easy to put on the gears. The gear legs and joints are indeed well made. The wheel hubs are really detailed. The main gears can tilt and be kept in a very good-looking landing tilted position. I’ll give a 9.

The aerials, navigation lights, SATCOM are well made by inserted parts. All markings on the wings and on the engines are very finely printed. Yet, there’s no landing lights on the nose gear leg. The landing lights on the wings are only printed. And the colouring of the APU exhaust is not realistic enough. I’ll only give an 8.

The livery reproduction here looks gorgeous. Remember, this model was made back in 2016. Five years later in 2015, JC’s competitor WB Models also released a Cathay 77W at that time. To everyone’s surprise, WB’s new 2021 release has an obviously oversized green band on the nose. Look at this JC’s 2016 product, its green band is in the correct size and scale. JC deserves our compliment here. I’ll give a 9.

Cathay’s unique bluish-grey colour has been a challenge to all manufacturers. Most of the existing Cathay models in the market are either too blue or too grey. Let’s use Aviationtag’s real Cathay aircraft skin as our colour reference here. It’s pretty obvious that this model’s colour is a little bit greyish. The colour is less accurate than that of JC’s Cathay A346 we unboxed in another video. I’ll give a 7 for painting.

This 2016 model has been highly sought-after around the world for years. The resale prices are always high. That’s especially true when collectors are disappointed by WB’s 2021 release. So, I’ll give a 9.
