September 1st pasture update — this video documents our multi-species grazing rotation here at Yonah Mountain Farms.
The cattle, sheep, and goats just finished a 24-hour paddock, and the laying hens are now following right behind them. We talk through why keeping animals close together improves management, how longer rest periods strengthen pastures, and some new strategies we’re considering for separating males and females.
This series is meant for documentation purposes, so we (and you!) can look back and track how grazing decisions affect land health, forage regrowth, and overall farm efficiency.
👉 If you have experience separating male & female sheep or goats, let us know in the comments — your insights are always welcome.
