Glen Mooar is one of the less obvious Manx National Glens that runs down to the coast about a mile south of Kirk Michael on the Peel to Kirk Michael coast road.
The road cuts it in two the lowest part to the west where it comes out to the sea, there is a nice beach and a good parking area.
Within the Glen itself are the two Giant stone pillars that once supported a Steel Viaduct for the Manx Northern Railway line that ran between Peel and Ramsey from 1879. (This railway was defunct by 1968 and the tracks were eventually removed in 1974) These pillars are being renovated at time of filming and plans are being made to make a pedestrian/cycle way out of the former railway line.
Towards the top of the Glen is "Spooyt Vane" (from Manx to English - White Spout) one of the highest waterfalls on the Island. Its well worth a visit to this area. We went from the beach up onto the road and into the Glen but you can also enter from the Begarrow Road off which there is a little parking area.
Filmed with multiple formats partly upscaled to 4K
