The Swallowtail Jig, a folk tune.
Largely believed to have been composed in the mid nineteenth century the, Swallowtail Jig, was one of many tunes made popular with the spread of immigrant Irish musicians. The name is held to have come not from a direct connection to the swallow, but from the swallow liked forked tails common on men’s coats at the time.
