The bus was very busy, even in October! Make sure you allow enough time, especially if you are travelling in peak season.
You can also catch a ferry between Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, however, if the weather is not good and/or there are a lot of waves/wind, these can be cancelled. This is especially true if travelling to/from Positano as the port is very small.
It is easiest if you get on at the first stop (at the train station!) because the bus fills up at this station. We watched the bus drive by people at later stops because they could not fit more on.
