Watch the world's greatest living mountain athlete power up The Manitou Incline one day before making an attempt on Matt Carpenter's legendary Pikes Peak Marathon Record.
Kilian took this for fun and came reasonably close to Joe Gray's all time record of 17'45". Kilian completed the ~2K' ascent over a distance of ~.9mi in about 18'30". This is stunning since he was conversational on the way up and was racing world class athletes the following day.
He didn't take Carpenter's record at the marathon, which gains over 7K', but he did win the race on a day which included gusty winds up high and warm temperatures down low.
Colorado Springs was privileged to have a visit by Kilian, and we'd love to have him back to assail local records!
