Dvorkin's outlook has always been to find and advise the best solution for consumers – not what makes the most profits. That’s one reason he was sour on debt settlement when the industry launched 20 years ago.

“It was the Wild West. People involved in debt settlement were promising the world and not delivering on any of it,” Dvorkin reflects. “A lot of them ran off with people’s money. It was sad to see.”

The FTC has since enforced regulations, leading to an increase in good actors in debt settlement. Now, Dvorkin views it as another tool that may benefit consumers better than options like debt management and bankruptcy.
