"Mr. Dieingly Sad" is a 1966 song by the Critters. It was written by Don Ciccone, who also provides the lead vocals. The song was the second of two singles released from their album Younger Girl, the other being the title track.
"Mr. Dieingly Sad" reached number 17 in both the United States and Canada to become the group's most successful record.
Don Ciccone wrote the song for his girlfriend, Kathy Cobb, before he left to join the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Cobb later became his wife.
After leaving The Critters, Don Ciccone went on to sing and play bass for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in the late 1970s and later became the musical director for Tommy James and the Shondells. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 70.
