This resin art project started with a paint pour I created four years ago. It’s a 12" round acrylic pour with violet and blue tones, soft swirls, and natural cells that resemble ocean water movement. Instead of starting over, I decided to transform this older paint pour into layered resin art with added texture and depth.
In Part 1 of this multi-day resin art series, I begin the resin process by prepping the circular canvas, taping the back, and adding glitter and crushed mirror to create reflective texture. Resin is poured in layers to enhance the existing flow and cell patterns while building dimension across the surface.
This project focuses on resin texture techniques and layered resin effects, allowing each resin layer to cure before adding the next. Working in stages helps create depth and movement while keeping the ocean-inspired feel of the original acrylic paint pouring artwork.
This video marks the start of a resin art transformation and shows how older fluid art pieces can be refreshed and reimagined instead of being set aside. If you enjoy resin art tutorials, ocean-inspired resin art, acrylic paint pouring, textured resin surfaces, or multi-layer resin projects, follow along as this piece continues to evolve over several days.
Old art, new layers, and a completely new life.
