I did a little experiment at the expense of my FICO score. Purposely beating it down with multiple credit card application until it reached just above 800. This gives you an idea that applying to 8 credit cards in rapid succession will do this even with a great credit score due to the high number of hard inquiries and temporary added utilization ratio.
