17th July 2025 – A12 Widening Scheme Cancellation – Business Question

Описание: Recently, the Government announced it is cancelling the A12 widening scheme between Chelmsford and Colchester. It’s a deeply disappointing decision for Essex residents and the wider East of England.

The A12 is one of the most important roads in the region. It carries around 90,000 vehicles every day, connects key communities, and supports logistics to major international ports and airports. It’s also dangerously congested and desperately needs upgrading.

Even more concerning, the cancellation could severely impact housebuilding plans across Essex, including around 55,000 new homes that rely on this infrastructure to go ahead.

In the House of Commons, Marie Goldman called on the Government to find a way forward.
