The idea for this video came when one of my musician friends said to me: "Have you heard that Gli Angeli solo guitar sound? That sound you WON'T be able to achieve in your home studio!".
Well.. Hold my beer.. :)
I took the challenge and recorded this at around 02:00 AM in the middle of the week in my flat.
This video was actually recorded already back in 2018 but when I watched it again after a long time I decided that this is a perfect video to start my new Youtube channel.
I Used a vintage 68' Marshall Plexi 50w small box, a 79' Ibanez TS-808 Tube Screamer and a Greuter Audio Wah pedal.
There is no delay in the mix, only a small room reverb so the sound is pretty into your face.
The reverb comes from the Fractal Audio AXE FXII.
Two Notes Torpedo Studio is used as a load box and as an IR loader.
I didn't really rehearse the original solo note by note at all but I played a few phrases which are close to the original just to present the tone similarity.
Then the rest of the solo is totally improvised.
This is a second take of the solo and I actually have the first take recorded as well but not filmed unfortunately.
I might release it at some point with some photos as a background.
The solo in the first take is quite different to this one.
I took the second take because I found out that Mike Landau might have played his original solo with Tyler strat using Celestion Vintage 30's as speakers.
My first take is a Vince Cunetto Fender Stratocaster and G12M 25w greenbacks.
I really liked the tone but not the right combination for this one. :)
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer asap!
