The Cradle - Exploring Concept Art Workflow (CREEPY WARNING!)

Описание: I've really been enjoying the works of Allen Williams (especially), Wayne Barlowe, Zdzisław Beksiński, and HR Giger. And as I've grown more comfortable with thinking as a create concept artist, I've been trying to incorporate my artistic vision (inspired by the afore-mentioned artists) into the process.

This piece was created to flesh out (no pun intended) the full workflow, specifically the actual step-by-step procedure, for creating concept art. And even more specifically, for creepy, yet somehow beautiful, creatures.

Story-telling was not a primary objective, but something of the sort clicked towards the end of the whole process, which leads us to 'The Cradle', a creature symbolizing the self-sacrificing nature of a mother (or any parental figure, for that matter). On a personal note, I was happy I could incorporate my usual drawing style into the process, through I might have to re-think that in future pieces.
