The second webinar in the new Member Connectivity series for the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group: "Connecting Research with Management for Shorebird Conservation" with Dr. Joaquín Aldabe and Dr. Jason Hoeksema.
Dr. Joaquín Aldabe is a Professor at the Centro Universitario Regional del Este, Universidad de la República, Uruguay, and a Conservation Specialist for Manomet's Flyways Program-Western Hemisphere Reserve Network. He investigates how to harmonize bird conservation and livestock production, working with farmers and public institutions to promote "ecological intensification", with a special focus on grassland shorebirds.
Dr. Jason Hoeksema is a Professor at the University of Mississippi and founder and President of Delta Wind Birds, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and creating wetlands, fostering ecotourism, and raising awareness of migratory birds and their habitats. He brings a background in soil science & ecology to his work with farmers, measuring ecosystem services provided by shorebird habitat that may benefit both wildlife and humans.
