Exploring St. Albans | People and Places

People and Places, are the focus as I explore more fascinating history as I walk around St. Albans. Beginning with Samuel Ryder, a local seed merchant who founded golf’s Ryder Cup, and a St. Alban's connection to Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat who stayed in St. Albans the night before his execution in London. I visit the cathedral, and see the tomb of Alban, the first Christian Martyr, who St. Albans is named after. I visit St. Albans School, and discover the only Englishman to become Pope and enjoy a beer in Ye Old Fighting Cocks, England’s Oldest Pub.
