A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” Episode 1, titled “The Hedge Knight,” opens in the familiar yet distinct world of Westeros, nearly a century before Game of Thrones and after House of the Dragon. The story centers on Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) a kind-hearted but inexperienced “hedge knight” who finds himself at a crossroads after the death of his mentor, Ser Arlan of Pennytree.

Following Arlan’s funeral, Dunk decides to make his own way in the world by entering a jousting tournament in Ashford Meadow, aiming to prove his worth and gain renown as a knight. Dunk’s large stature, humble background, and earnest nature set him apart from the more polished warriors he encounters.

Along the way, he meets Egg, a mysterious youth who convinces Dunk to take him on as his squire and thus beginning an unlikely partnership that will define the heart of the series.

“The Hedge Knight” balances heartfelt character moments, subtle humor, and the thrill of medieval adventure, setting up a fresh yet richly textured tale within the A Song of Ice and Fire universe.
