THE TOWER OF TERROR is a classic action platformer released around 1990 by CP Verlag for the Commodore 64. The player takes on the role of a knight who tries to climb to the top of a dark tower to rescue an imprisoned princess. The entire game is based on vertical climbing through successive floors of the building. The screen scrolls upwards, and the hero jumps between platforms, ledges, and ladders, avoiding chasms and traps while fighting enemies. From the beginning, the knight has ranged weapons, most often in the form of throwing blades or axes, with which he eliminates monsters appearing on platforms and in the air. During the game, you can obtain weapon upgrades, bonuses, and energy-restoring items. The hero has a health bar that decreases upon contact with enemies or obstacles, and when it is depleted, the hero loses a life and must try again. Each tower level has its own color scheme and set of enemies, ranging from flying creatures to demonic figures, as well as a boss fight at the end of the level. Alexander Kirsch and Ingo Wolf were responsible for creating the game, handling the programming and design, while Rudolf Stember composed the music and sound effects, preparing the soundtrack for the SID chip characteristic of the C64.
