In the old part of the village you need to use a boat to reach your house. The charming wooden boats, known as "whisper boats," silently glide through the waterways, surrounded by picturesque thatched-roof houses. Giethoorn with its romantic canals and 176 bridges is often referred to as "Venice of the Netherlands."
