About this Video: Henri Devereaux (1931-) was a French actor and television personality who, in 1971, unwittingly participated in the smuggling of $32 million worth of heroin into New York City as part of the "French Connection" criminal conspiracy. He was recruited into the conspiracy by French drug trafficker Alain Charnier, who stashed the heroin in his car. Devereaux traveled to the United States by ship, planning to film scenes for his television show. However, he panicked after his vehicle was seized by the NYPD, and he decided to cut his ties with Charnier. Ultimately, Devereaux would be arrested and serve four years in a federal penitentiary for his role in the French Connection.
