Описание: This workshop convenes policymakers and infrastructure experts to examine the role of open standards and interoperability in the design and procurement of Europe’s AI Gigafactories. Building on a forthcoming policy paper, the discussion will focus on how architectural choices made today will shape Europe’s innovation capacity and technological development over the coming decades.

As the European Union prepares for a major coordinated investment in AI compute infrastructure, critical questions arise: where does vendor lock-in emerge in practice, what problems do open standards address, and how can procurement and hosting arrangements support long-term flexibility and resilience? This workshop provides a structured space to explore these questions through technical and policy perspectives.
