Doctor Who Theme - 2020

Описание: I can't believe I've made another version of the Akinola theme. That's a lie, yes I can.

So I talked a little a bit about this with the Howell+ theme but I'll expand a little more. What Segun Akinola has done with the theme tune is honestly incredible. Pretty much all of it is entirely modified from the original Derbyshire theme.

Literally.

The most significant adjustment that Segun's made is to pitch a lot of the elements down an octave, most prominently with the bassline and the glass harmonica that accompanies the main melody.

Some of it is done directly but to get some of the tones, it seems likely that Segun even pitch shifted a reverb bus or two. Even the drums, the most original part in this, has been put through this to some extent, and possibly pitched up as well (but this is the most unknown part of this mix).

Other crucial components are a light bit of chorus and flanger, and a much heavier dose of saturation applied differently across several bands. This is particularly true for the bass, which is probably the weakest part of my mix. It's a far better approximation than past attempts, but it's still not far off and I'm happy with it.

Whilst I can't do a stem or sample pack from this, there will be opening and closing tracks (one with and without middle 8!) coming soon!

Credit to D. Stewart for the Derbyshire samples that made this possible, and for the months worth of bouncing ideas off of and tearing our hair out over the slightest of changes causing chaos.
