In today’s devotional from 1 Corinthians 13:6–7, we confront a difficult truth about the nature of God’s love:
Love rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
In the February 21st teaching from Faith Food Devotions by Kenneth E. Hagin, we are reminded that divine love does not look for evidence of failure. It does not silently predict collapse. It does not define people by their worst moments.
It believes the best. And this becomes especially revealing in parenting.
Do we correct our children while secretly expecting them to disappoint us again?
Do we rehearse their past mistakes more than we declare their future potential?
Do we call it “wisdom” when it is actually fear disguised as experience?
God’s love rejoices in truth. It refuses to celebrate weakness. It refuses to magnify iniquity. It chooses hope, even when hope feels risky.
To believe the best does not mean ignoring wrong behaviour. It means refusing to define a person by it.
As parents, leaders, spouses, and believers, this is our test:
Can we see people the way God sees them?
Can we speak to who they are becoming instead of who they were?
This message will stretch you.
It will refine your love.
It will expose subtle unbelief hiding under the label of “discernment.”
But if we are born of God, His love is already in us. The question is whether we will let it govern our expectations.
