I made this video after having continuous issues with my braking system. My car is a 316ti 3 series e46 and has very low mileage for its age. When I bought the car the brakes were already a little off. Over time the conditions became worse. Unfortunately my 6 month warranty had expired before the conditions worsened.
To begin with I changed the check valve on the vacuum system. I figured I'd start simple and cheap. After replacing the check valve I still had issues. I did make a video about replacing the check valve. I'll include link below. During the check valve change I noticed my brake booster was very dirty Inside. I would determine in this video here that the vacuum pump seals were bad. This allowed oil to enter the vacuum line. Since my checked valve was bad oil entered into the brake booster. Which I will change in this video.
After changing the check valve I took the car for a test drive. During this test drive I slammed on the brakes a couple times to see of there was improvement in the system. I felt a slight improvement but the issue was not resolved. I believe that slamming the brakes initiated my ABS unit causing me to have the light trifecta.
After having the codes read I determined the ABS pump motor was bad and also there was a bad sensor number 2. I was able to find a brake booster assembly with master cylinder and two pressure sensor attached. At the same yard I was able to find a ABS unit as well.
Once I tore Into the system I would find that my Master cylinder had actually become clogged with a wax like substance. I believe the previous owner did not drive the car very often. This may have lead to the brake fluid going bad. The car was in great shape however I think the fluid was not changed often enough. I will also change the master cylinder in this video.
Once I replaced the master cylinder, brake booster and ABS unit my brakes worked perfectl. No more lack of stopping power. Previously I felt like I wasn't going to be able to stop at lower speeds. This is not the case now. I used to have to mash my foot down with a lot of pressure to even get slight braking. Now I barely need to apply the tip of my foot to stop. However, my teifecta of lights was still on. I went through my fuses and found an issue there. After changing the fuse my teifecta immediately turned off.
Below I will include the links of all the vidoes I used to replace my parts etc.
