The Gordie Howe International Bridge is a massive new cable-stayed crossing spanning the Detroit River, linking Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan.
Key Facts & Stats
Structure & Size: Six traffic lanes (three each way), plus a 12-ft-wide pedestrian and cycling path.
Main Span: Impressive 853 m — the longest cable-stayed main span in North America and the 10th longest worldwide.
Towers: Two towers, each reaching 220 m tall; the deck sits approximately 42 m above the river
Cables: 216 stay cables (108 on each side) support the bridge.
Connectivity & Benefits
Road Integration: Connects directly to I‑75 in Michigan and Hwy 401 via the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway in Ontario, bypassing surface streets.
Border Facilities: New, more efficient Ports of Entry on both sides with ten inspection lanes.
