Описание: This is the 2nd episode of our new series, Landscape vs Food Forest.

Food forest is a new exciting concept these days, and we are trying to show how it's different from landscaping, but at the same time trying to bring these two worlds together - growing attractive edible plants in an aesthetic way that will not make your neighbors do the eye roll.

Episode 2 is about an important African food crop that can also be an attractive, an easy ornamental groundcover or a border plant called African potato mint, an annual plant in the mint family with a perennial edible tuber. Many popular youtube videos state that the green part of this tuberous vegetable is not edible, but our own research showed that it is, and quite tasty/nutritious as well. It grows profusely in the heat of Florida summer when all other vegetables suffer and die out, creating an attractive carpet of greenery. It's not traffic-resistant so only grow it in areas where you aren't intending to walk/lounge. The stalks are quite brittle and will not look good once broken, but will regrow fast and even thicker.
