Hurstwic: Burning Longhouse Preliminary Report

Описание: Ever wonder what it was like being on the inside when Vikings set a house ablaze? Wonder no longer.

At our Fire Festival at Eiríksstaðir, Hurstwic used experimental archaeology to research the Viking-age battle tactic of attacking a man by setting fire to his longhouse. This video is a preliminary report on what we discovered.

While more experiments and data analysis are ongoing, these experiments at the festival clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the tactic. This report shows never-before-captured footage of the fire from inside the house, making clear the horror of the tactic in an extremely visual way.
