Today marks the beginning of the Round of 16, and our playoff run starts at one of the most iconic and challenging tracks in all of motorsports, Darlington Raceway, for the running of the Dodge Charger Southern 500. We raced here earlier in the season during the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400, but this time it’s different, because this is the Southern 500, a true Crown Jewel event with decades of history, pressure, and unforgettable moments that have defined NASCAR over the years.

Darlington is known for its narrow racing groove, tire wear, and the famous Darlington stripes, and this track has seen everything from legendary battles to jaw-dropping crashes, with one of the most memorable finishes in NASCAR history coming back in 2003 when Ricky Craven edged Kurt Busch by just 0.002 seconds, the closest finish the sport has ever seen. That kind of drama is exactly what makes Darlington special, and now we’re bringing playoff intensity into the mix.

Last time out at Daytona in the Daytona 500, we were part of a thrilling finish ourselves, coming home second place as Jimmie Johnson took the win, and now the big question is whether we can see another close finish under the lights at Darlington, especially with playoff points, pressure, and momentum all on the line.
