The Punjab government has launched a province-wide crackdown on miscreants and extremist elements following violent protests linked to Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on October 16, 2025, it was decided that all those disturbing public peace will be dealt with an iron-fist policy. Section 144 has been extended, rallies banned, and legal action under PECA and ATA is being initiated.

The government clarified that the action is not against any religious group but against individuals inciting violence. Offices, seminaries, and social media accounts linked to unrest are under surveillance.
