Lecture by Dr Iulian Bîrzescu (Vasile Pârvan Institute of Archaeology, Romanian Academy), delivered on 18 November 2025 at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology, Polish Academy of Sciences.
The presentation offers an updated overview of archaeological research in the Sacred Area of Histria, focusing on the earliest phases of the Archaic sanctuary, architectural sequences, stratigraphy, pottery assemblages, and the wider framework of Greek colonisation on the western Black Sea coast.
The lecture was recorded within the research programme “Antiquities of the Black Sea”, directed by Alfred Twardecki (IAE PAN), and forms part of the ongoing Polish–Romanian academic collaboration under the bilateral agreement between the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Romanian Academy.
