China opened a new bridge in Guizhou Province at the end of last year. Pingchang, as the bridge is called, became the second highest in the world. It is 2135 meters long and 332 meters high.
Its height corresponds to a 110-storey building, and so Pingchang earned the nickname "Heavenly Bridge". In the middle, it has a diamond-shaped reinforced concrete tower, one of the highest in the world.
Pingchang was opened to the public on 30 December last year. He significantly reduced the travel time between the city of the same name and Luotien from two and a half hours to forty minutes.
The highest bridge remains the French Viaduct Millau, which reaches a height of 336 meters and serves as a highway bridge.
