David Bromwich is Sterling Professor of English at Yale. He has written books on William Hazlitt, Wordsworth, and on universities (Politics by Other Means). Having just published vol. 1 of The Intellectual Life of Edmund Burke, he is now working on vol. 2. He has a B. A. (1973) and Ph. D. (1977) from Yale, and has written for The New Republic, TLS, and The New York Review of Books.
