The deadly heatwave in India hitting headlines worldwide is threatening the well-being of sloth bears under the care of Wildlife SOS. These scorching temperatures can cause them to overheat, especially with their thick black fur. There is the most concern for the elderly bears, who already have existing health problems due to their advanced age, making them particularly vulnerable in this extreme heat.
With your donations, the keepers can prepare icy, hydrating fruit popsicles to hang around their enclosures, ensure clean water in their bathing pools, and activate sprinkler systems on hot days to keep the bears cool.
Additionally, your help will allow them to cool the inside dens by spraying water on the brick walls and covering windows and doors with dampened sacks, creating a cooler breeze inside.
