UN General Assembly adopts Ghana resolution on slavery and reparations

The United Nations on Wednesday passed a floor vote declaring transatlantic slavery the "gravest crime against humanity."
Ghana proposed the resolution, which was passed in a 123-to-3 vote at the General Assembly, with the U.S., Israel, and Argentina voting against it.
The UK and over 50 other countries abstained.
The non-binding resolution calls for formal apologies, the return of stolen artifacts, and financial compensation for the forced enslavement of at least 12.5 million Africans across more than four centuries.
