Lemurs of Madagascar - Facts about All Lemurs and the Dancing Sifaka
Lemurs are primates native to the island of Madagascar. There are about 112 species of Lemurs, all from Madagascar, and some are also found in the Comoro Islands. These incredible primates are the world's first primates and were around during the time of the dinosaurs. Who knew!!
Sadly, most of the species are in serious trouble and listed as critically endangered.
The Sifaka Lemur is a very special one because of the way it moves around. People find their two legged sideways hop entertaining to watch and they call them the "dancing lemur" It is beautiful and sadly facing extinction.
