This week a great solo camping in the Texas canyons is usually about quiet, space, and resetting your head. This trip had all of that… until I ended up about 30 feet from a wild buffalo while hiking off-trail.
I went on three off-trail hikes, explored deep canyon terrain, and had one of those moments where instinct takes over and you’re reminded how real the wilderness still is. No crowds. No marked paths. Just awareness, respect, and the calm that comes from being completely present.
This isn’t a how-to or a highlight reel it’s a real solo camping experience for anyone who enjoys hiking off the beaten path, overlanding, or finding peace outdoors.
