Morristown & Erie Rail Train - The Last Train on the Dundee Spur 10/20/20

Описание: The time had finally come. On the morning of October 26, 2020, the New York & Greenwood Lake Dundee Spur would see its very last train as Morristown & Erie SW1500 20 would make a run down Monroe Street in Garfield to pick up one final rail train. This train would bring the remaining ties from the torn up Island Yard over to Morristown for unloading.

I was lucky enough to be able to head over to Garfield to see this historic move. A number of other railfans were present, but since this move was done on a weekday, there weren't quite as many people as when the NYGL equipment was pulled out of Passaic at the beginning of the month. With the Island Yard completely torn up, the train would have to run up to Waldwick for 20 to run around to the other end. Due to this, I was able to get two shots of the train on the Bergen Line in addition to the footage I got of it street running on Monroe Street. Please enjoy!

1:14 20 crosses Pierre Avenue and begins its run down the middle of Monroe Street towards Passaic. Due to its slow pace, I was able to run ahead of it a couple of times to get two different shots on the street running section.
6:28 20 idles on the Half Moon Bridge over the Passaic River after being coupled up to the rail train.
6:40 a crane loads the last of the ties from the Island Yard onto the rail train. Two bulldozers can also be seen smoothing out the ground where the rails once made up the yard.
7:04 20 pulls three cars loaded with ties up Monroe Street and back to the Bergen Line. This would be the final train to ever traverse these tracks.
12:20 The rail train sits on the interchange track as it waits for permission to shove onto the Bergen Line.
12:30 One final look at the Dundee Spur. The tracks in Monroe Street will be torn up some time in the future.
12:47 20 shoves its train onto the Bergen Line, as seen from Van Winkle Avenue.
13:23 Train 1153 crosses Van Winkle Avenue with ALP-45DP 4527 on the point. Cab Car 6030 is at the end. The rail train follows behind on Track 2 as it makes its way to Waldwick so 20 can run around to the other end.
16:24 20 pulls the rail train across Somerset Street and through the Garfield station as it makes its way back to Morristown.
