How to fix hairline cracks in green ware pottery (ceramic).
Vinegar is very helpful to get rid of those small pesky cracks.
The vinegar dissolves the clay a little bit, therefore causing the crack to close. It also dries slower than water, making it less likely to crack again.
Sadly, the vinegar can not fix cracks that are in the middle of a piece or big cracks.
Also, this method has only 50% chance of working.
I know that's not a lot, but it is better than nothing.
Pieces that are too far gone, you can recycle the clay and make a new piece.
