Polypropylene three-strand film rope is a versatile, economical utility rope made from flat tape-like strands. It floats due to its low specific gravity (around 0.96–0.98) and is commonly used for tow lines, tying items, and small fishing trawls. While useful for general purposes, it has poor abrasion resistance, no special strength qualities, and degrades quickly under sunlight, becoming brittle over time. Ideal for short-term or light-duty applications, but should be inspected frequently.
