While Avios are known the world over for their fantastic semi-scale models of powered airplanes, particularly waterplanes, their experience and dedication to designing and producing great flying models means they are perfectly placed to produce other types as well. The Avios Kobuz is a large, aerobatic, sport-scale model with outstanding flight characteristics of the SZD-21 Kobuz single-seat aerobatic glider, designed and built in Poland.


This flapped, 2200mm wingspan model features clean and aesthetic lines, it will fly fast or slow, has an incredible climb rate, and is very aerobatic with good speed retention in the glide. All these things are wrapped up in one big, beautiful package, which is then finished in a stunning hi-viz Swiss color scheme. The color scheme design is quite different top and bottom for great orientation when flying high or at a distance. One feature of the Kobuz is the very large canopy with instrument panel detail, which offers easy access to the battery and RC compartment. There is also plenty of room in the canopy if you wish to convert the Kobuz to FPV.


Other features include a unique and positive clip-on wing system with an easy PCB connection system for the wing servos. This enables quick assembly and disassembly at the flying field. There is also a strong, carbon-woven main spar, servo covers on all wing servos, and an anti-scratch plate underneath the fuselage to protect things when landing. For precision control, ball-link pushrods are fitted throughout, and the twin-bolt horizontal stab can easily be removed for transportation. There is also a very clever stowage area in the fuselage for the carbon wing spar, which makes life easier for transporting, and also ensures you do not leave it at home when you go flying!!


In typical Avios fashion, the Kobuz is supplied in a PNF (Plug-N-Fly) format. This means that the motor, ESC, servos, and most of the pushrods are installed at the factory. The high-performance power system consists of a powerful 3548-750KV brushless outrunner motor and 11x8 folding prop with a streamlined spinner, Aerostar RVS G2 50A ESC, 4 x 13g metal-geared servos, and 2 x 9g metal-geared servos. The controls consist of ailerons, elevator, rudder, throttle, and flaps. The flaps and ailerons can be mixed and programmed if your transmitter allows, to give you crow-braking, this is where the flaps go down, and the ailerons go up, which kills the float, and enables you to perform pinpoint spot landings


The Avios Kobuz has a very low parts count, meaning assembly is quick and simple with virtually no gluing required. As mentioned above, assembly and disassembly at the flying field are very quick and straightforward.
