Stony Brook Hospital es un lugar muy diverso tanto en su cuerpo docente como en sus pacientes. La mayoría de los pacientes que vemos en la clínica de Fellows son hispanos. Este video que hemos creado sirve para concienciar sobre la importancia de la detección del cáncer colorrectal al mostrar a una familia que recibe la noticia de que un amigo murió de cáncer de colon. Queríamos mostrar el impacto en la comunidad de perder a un ser querido y por qué es importante hablar y participar en la atención preventiva. Stony Brook Hospital is a very diverse place both in its faculty and patients. A majority of the patients that we see in the Fellows’ clinic are Hispanic. This video we have created serves to bring awareness to the importance of the colorectal cancer screening by showing a family that receives news that a friend died of colon cancer. We wanted to show the community impact of losing a loved one and why it’s important to talk about and participate in preventative care. We hope this video reminds our Hispanic patients that there is a network of nurses and doctors at the hospital that are ready to help them prepare for their procedure in their primary language.
