This video showcases the UL 9540A pack-level thermal runaway test of the Mercury 233-System-US. Thermal runaway was intentionally initiated by heating three battery cells under extreme conditions.
The test results demonstrate that CESC’s safety-oriented design effectively prevents fire and explosion following thermal runaway. The explosion-proof valve activated as designed to relieve internal pressure and maintain structural integrity.
Post-test inspection confirmed that the battery pack remained intact, with no collapse or deformation observed. Even under extreme thermal runaway conditions, the system exhibited no fire and no explosion, validating the safety and reliability of the Mercury 233 System.
