Описание: Gonjas are Northern Guans who dwell in the Savannah Region of Ghana. They have for long been misconcepted as Mandigoes or Mandes without taking into account that they speak a Guan Language. The fact that Gonjas are mainly Muslims or enskin their chief's does not make them Gurs. Even the Chakosis are mainly Muslims themselves who also enskin their chiefs.

Gonjaland hosts the Larabanga mosque, the Mole-National Game Reserve, Daboya Salt mine, the Black Volta and the White Volta etc.

Well known Gonja communities include Yapei, Buipe, Fufulso, Damongo, Bole, Salaga, Daboya.

Gonja Language is closely related to Ntsumburun, Nawuri etc.

Gonja has dialects including Kplan or Kpilan, Dompo, etc
