In this presentation Dr. Timothy Rutzou (Yale University) looks at critical realism and its account of structure and causation, providing a quick historical overview of critical realism situated within the context of the new left, and arguing for critical realism a a project of emancipatory social science based in reflexivity, practice, and the identification and critique of existing social structures.
