The rare but harrowing instances of IVF donor regret | SBS FEEDBACK

Описание: Australia has a shortage of sperm, egg and embryo donations - supply is not keeping up with demand. Unlike in the US, donors in Australia cannot be paid so all donations have to be done altruistically. This rule is to prioritise donor-conceived people who are born from donations.

And while Australia has important systems in place to ensure all donors feel confident in their decision to donate, there are a small number of people who later end up regretting the decision, or find life didn't turn out how they expected at the time of their decision. Feelings of regret after donating are "relatively uncommon" , according to Dr Manuela Toledo from IVF Australia - "well under one per cent."

The Feed spoke to a few of the people who have found themselves feeling conflicted following their decision - in today's episode of Feedback we reflect on some of their stories.
