Jesus said "my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me". But when the Pharisees who were the religious elite of the day tried to pick a theological fight with Jesus he simply walked away from them. He never stopped loving them but he walked away from their arrogance and pride.
This is a story that should put the Fear of God into us as we consider our pride. Jesus want's us to be humble and teachable. One of the best things we can discover about ourselves is that we're not the smartest people in every room we walk into. Realising this is a gift because If we humble ourselves, seek the truth, and go after Jesus, he'll never walk away from us.
