Skye Blakely walked off the floor exercise Friday evening (23 October) at the World Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, not knowing the end results - one athlete was left to go - but knowing the process it took to get there.

In the end, the 21-year-old completed her return to strength after a torn Achilles on the eve of the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials ended her dreams of the Paris Games.

She earned a four-event total score of 55.733, holding off Liudmila Roschina, who scored 55.199. The People's Republic of China's Ke Qinqin (55.032) was the bronze medallist.

Olympic uneven bars champion Kaylia Nemour of Algeria was fourth with Japan's Sugihara Aiko rounding out the top five.

The gold medal continues a history of all-around success for the United States, which now owns 15 gold medals in the event. The last American winner was Simone Biles in 2023, when she won for the sixth of her career.

This is Blakely's first individual medal in four appearances at the Worlds. She has previously been part of two gold-medal squads for the U.S. and, earlier this week, helped Team USA to a silver medal behind the People's Republic of China.
