Join us for a very special "Neighborhood Tour" in Houston's Greater Fifth Ward! In today’s video, we are attending the grand opening of Saint Elizabeth’s Place, a monumental historic restoration of one of the first Black-owned hospital systems in the South.
Originally built in the 1940s, this building has a rich history and a personal connection—I actually tried to acquire this property back in 2013! Now, thanks to the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation (CRC) and historic preservation tax credits, it has been transformed into 85 units of mixed-income housing.
We’ll take you inside to see how the developers maintained the integrity of the historic structure, resulting in unique floor plans where no two units are exactly alike.
