Kayak Fishing the Yadkin River - North Carolina

Описание: Kayak fishing in North Carolina can be a lot of fun, and on this trip, I decided to fish the Yadkin River.

The Yadkin RIver is home to many species of fish like bass, sunfish, catfish, crappie, and even gar. I decided to purposefully fish for bass on this kayak fishing adventure, and I did find them.

I put in at 421 River Park in Lewisville, NC and floated 5.4 miles downriver to the Huntsville Access in Yadkinville, NC. There was plenty of structure off the bank for bass to hide and ambush prey. Most of the structure consisted of fallen trees, although there were a few large rocks here and there.

I'll also make mention of several feeder creeks that flowed into the river along this stretch of water. I was surprised that I didn't have more success in these areas - maybe next time?

Kayak fishing a river like this can be dangerous if you fall out of your kayak, so it's best to always wear a lifejacket and stay aware of your surroundings. There were 3 or 4 small "rapids" that I kayaked through on this float, but nothing too difficult.

It didn't take me too long to abandon the beetle spin I started fishing with and go to a topwater popper and later the BOOYAH Pond Magic mini spinnerbait. It was this lure that caught my best fish of the trip.

I really do prefer a "fixed-arm" spinnerbait to the beetle spin when fishing rivers like this because the typical spinnerbait design gets snagged far less often. I think I'll do a video on this in the future.
