I know a lot of you guys own your own shade of regular foundation that you probably have at least one favourite of, so I decided to make a tutorial showing how to make your own cushion foundation using products you already own and know work on your skin.

You can simply use an old, used up cushion foundation container (washed, sanitised and dried), a new DIY cushion foundation kit (such as the Missha one which I used), or make your own out of a jar, cut-out sponge and air-tight seal. I recommend the first two as the last can be unhygienic unless very specifically made.


Please remember:
start with small portions and work up to what you need
test out your formula before placing into your container
a standard cushion container only stores up to 15g of product, so only make 15g at a time
don't pour all the mix in; leave some to soak the other side of your sponge
only fill up to one-third of the sponge space as it can overflow
don't mix oil-based products with water-based as it will separate over time. I'd say just avoid oil altogether if you want to be safe.
I combined my foundation : everything else ratio as around 1.5 : 1 - obviously the higher your foundation ratio to the rest of your mix, the higher the coverage will be, and vice versa.
AND FINALLY,
Use your absolute favourite products (foundation, highlighter, moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, etc) and you'll be able to formulate your absolute favourite cushion foundation!

I've been using what I made in this video every day since, and haven't really reached for anything else! Haha :)

You don't need all these ingredients, but I've tried to be as comprehensive as possible with the options. If you only have foundation, that'll do too! However I do recommend at least adding in one extra ingredient

Serum or moisturizer : this helps your product work better with the sponge application and blend in quicker and easier when patting on.
