Djamaladiine Abdoulkader Reedo — co-founder of the Afar Latin alphabet (Dimis kee Reedo) and a pioneer of Afar linguistic rights — speaks here about the progress of Afar literature, including its adoption as the official working language of the Afar Region in Ethiopia, the translation of the Qur’an into Afar, and the standardization of Afar Madqa (Afar laws and constitution). He highlights both the shared foundations and the differences among Afar confederations.
